Weekly News Round-up March 10th - 16th

weekly news roundupHello all! This has been a busy week. First off, the lovely Cate Ashwood is a guest over at The Purple Rose Tea House today chatting about her very first venture into M/M Romance and offering folks a chance to win a copy of her debut novel Keeping Sweets. ♥ I'm happy to announce that I will be attending GayRomLit 2013 and RainbowCon 2014! ♥ I will be attending GayRomLit as a reader this year rather than an author. I spent a good deal of time fretting about this decision. Last year, I had an amazing time, met so many fantastic people, and I really wanted to go again this year. The number of author slots was limited and as a relative newbie, I didn't feel quite ready to take up a Featured Author slot, yet the Supporting Author slots were even fewer. I thought about my experience last year and what I enjoyed most. Above everything, I loved cutting loose and just hanging out with folks. I decided the heck with it. I love M/M Romance, and although I'm an author, I was a reader first. I'm still a reader, with favorite books, and favorite authors. I get ridiculously excited  when I discover a new series or author, and stay up until an unholy hour because I decided to 'have a little read' before bed.  I can't wait to see familiar faces and meet new ones.  So I'll be there hanging about, causing mischief, and giving hugs. Feel free to join me in any of the above. ♥ RainbowCon is a QUILTBAG-centric conference in its first year and I'm really looking forward to it. With the genre growing, it's exciting to see the way it's branching out and bringing folks together. I hope this is merely the beginning. ♥ This week has been more design focused than writing as I've been revamping a new website for Piper Vaughn. It's close to completion, and I hope when it's unveiled both Piper and her readers love it. Piper picked a fantastic color theme, so stay tuned for that! ♥ Don't forget today is the last day to enter my contest. Just leave comment on the original post. Contest ends at midnight, winner will be announced tomorrow, Sunday March 17th. ♥ For those of you looking for a free St. Patrick's read and haven't already read Endearing Young Charms, you can read it here. This is my sweet little short of how Bruce and Jace spent their St. Patty's Day. ♥ The M/M Romance Group over at Goodreads is gearing up for their next writing event. Who fancies having me write them a story? I'm even opening myself up to other genres for it. :D Hope you all have a great weekend! x Charlie

Weekly News Roundup: Jun 23rd to Jun 29th *Updated*

weekly news roundupWelcome to this week's News Roundup covering June 23rd to June 29th. It's been a fantastic and very busy week with The Auspicious Troubles of Chance released the 20th of June.
As with all my other releases, I have been doing my best to keep my nervousness from taking over. This is my longest work to date, pretty much a novel--which I will write at some point! But it's also been incredibly exciting, and I'm so so thrilled when I hear about folks enjoying it. So for everyone who's left me a comment, a tweet, a like, a review: Thank You! It really means a lot to me that you all take the time to say so. This week I've had not just one, but two beautifully written reviews, both giving The Auspicious Troubles of Chance 4.75 out 5 stars. If you have a moment to drop by those sites, please do, not just because of the review, but just the lovely way these reviews were written.
♥ The first is from Joyfully Jay. "Oh, this was such a good story — romantic, heartwarming, with a lovely epic feel. And once again Cochet gives us a historical that feels so rooted in the time period and allows the reader to really experience the world our characters inhabit." Read the rest of the review here. ♥ The second is from Camiele White over at YAM Magazine"Charlie Cochet’s debut effort is bold, intelligent. It’s of the caliber that bodes well for a brilliant career. From the moment the story begins, you get a precise sense of the distinctive voice of our character, and by extension the breadth of voice of the writer. Cochet’s use of language and diction makes the simple image of touch grand, audacious. Chance and Jacky’s relationship is so palpable, even the very breath between their bodies expands and reaches out to embrace the reader in its indigo hue." Read the rest of the review here. ♥ On Thursday, I posted the first of my Behind the Scenes series, giving inside info, photos, and just fun little facts about what went into one of my books. June 28th showed The Amethyst Cat Caper and you can find it here and in my blog archive on the sidebar. ♥ All Romance eBooks is having a Hottest Heroes contest, so if you fancy nominating Hawk or Remi (they're my only heroes eligible for the contest), I would be delighted. You can click the button on the sidebar, Contest ends July 4th. You can read all about it here. ♥ You may have noticed other authors asking folks to 'like' their Amazon page. Apparently once the author hits 50 'likes' it's supposed to help them out in some way. I'm not really sure, but I'm happy to do what I can. So if you all have an Amazon account and would like to help me reach that 50, I'd love for you to 'like' my page. ^__^ Maybe it'll help Chance move up from his #150,000 rank. lol. Who knows?  Last time I checked I was at 27 likes. Personally, all this social media is still new to me and I forget there's all these 'likes', google+, retweet thingies, but I'm very much into spreading the love, so I promise to get better at it. *Update*   The Auspicious Troubles of Chance is today's (June 30th) 'free' book over at Reviews by Jessewave. Drop by and leave a comment for a chance to win a free copy! Coming up next week: ♥ Visit Joyfully Jay on Thursday July 5th and leave a comment for a chance to win an eBook copy of The Auspicious Troubles of Chance.

Weekly News Roundup *Updated*

weekly news roundupWelcome to this week's Weekly News Roundup covering Sunday, April 29th to Saturday, May 5th.

♥ My first edits for The Auspicious Troubles of Chance have been completed and turned in! Feeling a little nervous, (and excited!) about unleashing these fellas upon the world. More to come soon!

Dreamspinner Press turns five this month, and with it comes a huge, month-long celebration that includes sales, giveaways, prizes, and more! Over the course of the month, all of Dreamspinner's titles will be discounted according to how long the author has been with them. Learn more here.

Torquere Press 2012 Charity Sip Blitz: It's that time again, where all of our great authors get together to donate to a charity working within the GLBTQ community! This year, Torquere Press has chosen NOH8 as the donation charity, and authors who contribute agree to donate 100% of their royalties to NOH8, with Torquere Press matching the donation.

This year's theme, since this is Torquere Press' ninth anniversary as well, is leather. Nine is the leather anniversary, y'all! How cool is that?

Leather can be reflected in any way in the story. BDSM may immediately spring to mind, but leather can also mean cowboys, fast cars, Italian shoes, jewelry, or any of a million other things. We want stories that show LGBTQ characters in positive situations, and have strong stories with happy endings. (Or at least happy for now.)

Word count is 3000 to 8000 words, and those limits are firm. Please adjust your manuscripts accordingly before submission. Deadline for submissions is July 1, 2012. Please send all submissions to submissions@torquerepress.com with Charity Sip Blitz in the subject line. For formatting questions or other content questions, please refer to our general guidelines, here: http://torquerepress.com/submissions.html

This is a great event, and although I hadn't been around to participate in the last two, I certainly intend to gve it my best shot. It would be great to be a part of this, so I'll let you know how it goes!

♥ This week I've had two very lovely reviews for The Amethyst Cat Caper from two very wonderful sites.

♥ 4 out 5 stars -- Erastes from Speak Its Name said:

"This is the second book I’ve read by Ms Cochet (When Love Walks In was the first) and like the first one, I was impressed, and also the author has a talent for creating characters and situations which we’d not only like to see more of – we can say that about many books – but which stories lead naturally to a conclusion, whilst still leaving the door open for More Adventures." Read the full review here.

Becky Condit from Mrs. Condit & Friends Read Books gave The Amethyst Cat Caper 4 blissful sweet peas, saying:

"Reading Charlie Cochet’s THE AMETHYST CAT CAPER is very much like watching a film noir. Set in the 1930s it is stylish, polished, and moody. The ending was absolutely thrilling in the take your breath away kind of action. It’s a short novella and I read it start to finish in one sitting. Ms Cochet got the feeling of the era spot on, including the dialog and descriptions of the city and what people were doing. I enjoyed THE AMETHYST CAT CAPER very much."

*Updated*

Well the post is up on Goodreads where my LiAW story is going to be! How exciting! You can see the photo, the original letter to the author, and story info including length, tags, and genre here. As soon as it goes up, I'll make sure to place a link on the side bar. In the meantime, you can post comments in the thread. If you're not a member of Goodreads, don't worry, you'll still get to read the story. More coming soon!

Oh, and the title of my story is: Roses In The Devil's Garden

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
