Hello, all! Thank you for joining the scare trail! We've got a host of fabulous authors celebrating the spooky season with some fantastic giveaways!
Since we're talking about all things spooky and paranormal, let's chat about spooky books! I haven't read many horror books, but I've certainly read quite a few paranormal books with scenes that made me close my eyes. If I could have read the rest of the scenes at the time with my eyes closed, I would have! LOL. Of course, the audios weren't available at the time.
One of my favorite paranormal series with super spooky scenes is Jordan Castillo Price's PsyCop series. Man, it's a good thing I wasn't a character in that book because I'd have been crawling all over Victor begging him to protect me from all the things that went bump in the night--and day. Actually, I probably would have been fine just chilling out with Crash at his shop. Yep, you do you, boo. You go chase down those vengeful spirits, I'll stay right here and have me a latte with Crash.
One of the first stories I read by Jordan L. Hawk was Hainted, and that spooked me up good. Yes, I'm a total wuss when it comes to haints looking to shred my soul to pieces. From there I moved onto Widdershins. I love the Wyborne and Griffin series!
Personally, my paranormal creatures tend to be more on the sexy shifter side, though I did write a short Halloween story a while back. It's sweet, heartbreaking, and a bit otherworldly with a twist or two along the way to a HEA. This story's a little different from my usual, but I loved writing it.
Between the Devil and the Pacific Blue
For the last six months, Detective James Ralston has worked the nightshift as security for the Pacific Blue Hotel, and every night at 2 a.m. his rounds lead him to the radio room where the handsome and mysterious Franklin Fairchild sits listening to waltzes as old as the hotel itself. James is drawn to Franklin, but Franklin is a man at the end of his rope, and James has no intention of getting caught up in whatever trouble Franklin is in. A heated encounter late one night sends James down a disturbing path and has him questioning everything around him, including his very sanity.
