I'll just come right out and say it, I'm an Amazon girl. I use Amazon A LOT. I get my books from there (and other places as well), and I get the majority of my research books from there. I shop for movies, music, and more. I have Amazon Prime. One-click is dangerous. Yes, there are a lot of things they can do better and a heck of a lot of things that are frustrating, but that's not what this post is about.
I got my first Kindle (the Kindle Keyboard, Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display) back in 2011. Shortly after, Amazon released the next generation of Kindle. This always happens to me so I wasn't surprised or upset. I'm always fashionably late to the party. Until recently I've been using the Kindle app on my Samsung tablet to read my eBooks, but with Prime, I have access to the lending library which isn't accessible from eReaders that aren't Kindle. I felt it was time to update.
Amazon are having a nifty little offer that allows you to get any Kindle eReader now and pay it over four monthly installments after an initial first payment. Pretty darn awesome. I didn't want to go crazy with one of the really expensive Kindles because I just don't need it. I already have a laptop and Samsung Galaxy tablet for other things. So I have my shiny new Kindle Fire HD with Wi-Fi and I've loaded it with my eBooks, and then Dreamspinner's having their awesome anniversary sale which means I then loaded it with MORE eBooks, and then a fabulous lady gifted me Joanna Chambers's Enlightenment series which I can't wait to get started on.
I've added a few key apps: Evernote, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, Pandora, Netflix are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. I'm slowly exploring the sending of eBooks to my Kindle and trying to work out the Cloud. Somehow I've ended up with eBooks under my Docs section? Anyway, I'm loving it. I just need to figure it all out.
Anyone have some helpful tips on the Kindle Fire HD? Any apps I simply MUST have? Best way to load non-Amazon .mobi books?
