4 Star review from Speak Its Name!

When Love Walked In has received 4 stars from Speak Its Name and I couldn't be more pleased!

...it’s highly enjoyable, well-grounded in its period, written in a cinematic way that will make you relive the gritty days of the 1930′s depression and a solid little story.

As any new (or veteran) author will tell you, reviews are something that have us quaking in our shoes. I know it certainly does me! See, I LOVE the twenties and thirties. These periods fascinate me, and although my research is never ending, I enjoy learning all I can about these eras long gone.

My biggest worry about taking on historicals, was in regards to getting the feel of it right, as well as the voices of the characters, of the men who lived in a different time with a very different way of thinking. Not only do I hope that readers will enjoy themselves when they read my stories, but also that they'll feel immersed in the world these men live in, in their lives.

When you love something, you want to do right by it. I know I still have a lot to learn and I'm certain mistakes will be made along the way, but I plan to learn from them and hopefully improve. From the comments I've received (which I'm very grateful for), it's clear I'm on the right track, which is what a newbie like me needs to know. I'm thrilled to see people responding to the characters I love so much and to know they're getting drawn into the period.

If you've read the story, feel free to drop me a line to tell me what you did or didn't like. I'd love to hear from you!

The Amethyst Cat Caper is out the 29th of Feb. As the title suggests, it's more of a caper/adventure than a gritty detective story, but lots of fun! With gentleman thieves, stolen Egyptian artifacts, and plenty of handsome heroes!

4.5 out 5 for The Amethyst Cat Caper!

My first official review is in for The Amethyst Cat Caper from Joyfully Jay and I'm so very pleased by it! This is my first published story that is longer in length (novella), and the feedback I've been receiving has been wonderful. Not only because people seem to be enjoying it, but because I've also learned about areas I can improve upon moving forward, which is so very important to me.

I like to know what works and what doesn't, what can be made better. After all, that's all part of the growing process, and it's very exciting. This one's a little bit strange in the sense that I wrote The Amethyst Cat Caper months before I wrote When Love Walked In, even though it was published second. I learned quite a bit from The Amethyst Cat Caper which I put to use in When Love Walked In, hence the slow build up to Bruce and Jace's relationship as opposed to the faster paced relationship Remi and Hawk have. Of course that just means in Hawk and Remi's next adventure, I'm going to have to make them suffer a little. Sorry boys, but if you thought you were going to walk away that easy... I'm cruel, I know.

Wonderful Review from Guilty Pleasures and Upcoming Easter Egg Hunt!

I've had a wonderful review from Gennie over at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews. Not only did The Amethyst Cat Caper receive 4.5 out 5 stars, but it was also given the 'Recommended Read' Award! As you can imagine, I am over the moon.

I've also had a lovely review from Jane Davitt, author of Spoken from the Heart. You can read it here.

I'm incredible chuffed to hear folks say they want to see more of Remi and Hawk! Those two fellas mean quite a bit to me, and I had originally planned on doing a series, but it also depended on whether or not there was enough interest in one. I'm so happy to see there is, and all those reader comments really go a long way in providing inspiration and motivation. With all the fantastic feedback I've gotten, I plan to add a whole lot more to the next book. More mystery, mayhem, and the newest addition to the gang-- Remi's adorable and equally mischievous younger brother, Chess (Chester Trueblood). Oh, what troubles will befall Hawk with these two cheeky Englishmen?

I'm also going to have some Amethyst Cat Caper goodies to give out in April. From the 6th to the 8th, I'll be participating in the Hoppy Easter Blog Hop hosted by The Blog Hop Spot. So if you don't have your own eBook copy of The Amethyst Cat Caper, here's your chance to win one, along with an exclusive bookmark and keyring.

I'll also be hosting my own little Easter Egg Hero Hunt (date TBA) on my blog! On the given day, Remi and Hawk will be hiding somewhere on this site. The first specified number of folks to leave a comment on the Easter Egg Hero Hunt's post that day, correctly stating where they found Remi or Hawk (1 handsome hero per person) as well as answering the easy question posted, will win some goodies. More info to come next week, so stay tuned!

4 out 5 stars from Jessewave Reviews

It's been an amazing week for reviews, with so many wonderful things being said about The Amethyst Cat Caper. I really am very excited and incredibly happy! As I've mentioned here before, this was my very first book to get picked up by a publisher, so you can imagine how nervous I've been through the whole process!

My latest review comes from Cryselle over at Jessewaves who gave the book 4 out 5 stars. Not only did Cryselle have some great things to say, but she also gave some very helpful feedback. Here's a little of what she had to say:

"Set in 1934, this novella has the gritty feel of the ‘30s, where a country still mired in the Depression remembers the high life. The noire atmosphere, with danger, double-crossing, and love comes across well... An excellent first encounter with Charlie Cochet’s writing."

You can read the full review here: The Amethyst Cat Caper Review at Jessewave Reviews

In other news, The Amethyst Cat Caper is on the bestsellers list of 'Historical America' eBooks at All Romance eBooks! The funny thing is, that for a couple of weeks, it's had this icon next to it , and I had no idea what that meant! I thought it was part of a promotion until I finally had to know, so I checked the FAQ and saw it meant that my book is an ARe bestseller! I love little surprises like that!

Latest Reviews

This week I've had two very lovely reviews for The Amethyst Cat Caper from two very wonderful sites.

4 out 5 stars -- Erastes from Speak Its Name said:

"This is the second book I’ve read by Ms Cochet (When Love Walks In was the first) and like the first one, I was impressed, and also the author has a talent for creating characters and situations which we’d not only like to see more of – we can say that about many books – but which stories lead naturally to a conclusion, whilst still leaving the door open for More Adventures." Read the full review here.

Becky Condit from Mrs. Condit & Friends Read Books gave The Amethyst Cat Caper 4 blissful sweet peas, saying:

"Reading Charlie Cochet’s THE AMETHYST CAT CAPER is very much like watching a film noir. Set in the 1930s it is stylish, polished, and moody. The ending was absolutely thrilling in the take your breath away kind of action. It’s a short novella and I read it start to finish in one sitting. Ms Cochet got the feeling of the era spot on, including the dialog and descriptions of the city and what people were doing. I enjoyed THE AMETHYST CAT CAPER very much."
