Different Tracks - Part 16

Different Tracks LG

Hello all! Here's my chapter for this week's Different Tracks story.

Here are the links to the current chapters and more info on the Round Robin story.

Peter was a man on a mission. Ever since his lunch conversation with Xander on Saturday—if it could be called a conversation—the pieces had started to fall into place. The more he thought about Xander, the more he began to understand what was really going on, and it had nothing to do with the guy’s aversion to relationships.

“You don’t want someone like me, I get it. It was a mistake. Okay?”

Xander’s words had caught Peter off guard, and it wasn’t until long after Xander had gone that they finally sank in. There were times when Xander seemed confident. Like when he was out on the construction site working. He’d quickly familiarized himself with all the tools and handled them skillfully, as if he’d been using them all his life. At least until Peter showed up. Then the guy turned into one of those infomercials where picking up a hammer resulted in flailing chaos with the added bonus of a bandage or two.

Xander didn’t seem to have a problem holding a conversation with Mr. J, Mike, or even Jo. The moment Peter appeared, Xander acted like he didn’t know what to do with himself. He had no idea how sweet he looked, the way his cheeks flushed, or how he mumbled to himself when he thought Peter couldn’t hear him. Those weren’t the actions of a guy who saw Peter as nothing more than a one night stand. For some reason, Xander didn’t think he was good enough for Peter, so it was up to Peter to prove him wrong.

While he dressed, he tried his best to ignore the little voice in his head telling him Xander might bail on him. It had taken a good deal of persuasion for Xander to finally agree. Peter was itching to send another text or call, but he didn’t want to be pushy. The last thing he wanted was to scare Xander off. Tonight was about showing Xander the possibility of something more between them. To show it didn’t matter to Peter the car he drove, what his apartment was like, or what he did for a living.

Peter finished buttoning up his charcoal gray dress shirt, leaving the top two buttons undone. His hair had a small amount of gel in it, his cologne was subtle, and his dark blue jeans gave him a more casual look. He wanted to look good for Xander, but not too dressy. Choosing his outfit had been almost as tough as choosing where to go for dinner. He wanted Xander to feel comfortable tonight, though he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t nervous.

The doorbell rang and he took a deep breath. “Relax. You can do this.”

Turning off the bedroom lights, he made his way to the front door, opening it with a smile when he got there. The moment his eyes landed on Xander, his brain vacated the premises. Holy shit.

“Hey.” Xander smiled bashfully, his hands shoved into the pockets of his black jeans. He was clean shaven and wearing a navy blue dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, revealing his muscular arms. “I hope this is okay. I didn’t know where we were going and—”

Peter kissed Xander, cutting him off mid-sentence. He tasted minty fresh, and his aftershave sent the most delicious shiver up Peter’s spine. Xander leaned into the kiss, his hands going to Peter’s waist and his lips parting to invite Peter in. Peter was very tempted to skip dinner and go right to dessert. Instead, he pulled back with a soft laugh.

“Sorry. I just needed to do that. You look great.” Xander’s smile warmed Peter all over. He motioned behind him. “I’m just gonna grab my keys and jacket.”

Peter swiped up what he needed before locking up then headed down to the truck with Xander quiet at Peter’s side. He remained that way until they were on the road.

“So, um, where are we going?” Xander asked, his gaze focused outside his window.

Peter noticed the way Xander was trying his hardest not to fidget. His knee had bounced a few times before he caught himself.

“Relax,” Peter said, taking hold of Xander’s hand and giving it a squeeze. He smiled warmly, loving the slight flush on Xander’s face. He loved that Xander didn’t pull his hand out of his even more. “There’s this great little steakhouse not far from here. It’s cozy, but grills a mean porterhouse.” He pulled his hand away and placed it on the steering wheel. Slow and steady. He’d need to keep remind himself.

Xander blinked at him. “A steakhouse?”

“Yeah, why?” Peter’s smile faded. Had he made the wrong choice? “Is that okay? We could go somewhere else. Maybe I should have asked you where you wanted to go.”

“No, steak is good. That’s perfect, actually. Really.” Xander’s smile was genuine, reaching his big brown eyes. He visibly relaxed a little and even turned on the radio.

“Great,” Peter replied cheerfully. They chatted as they drove down to the steakhouse with Peter asking Xander what cut of steak he recommended. Peter did his best to help Xander feel at ease. As Xander talked about prime cuts, Peter couldn’t help but wonder what could have caused Xander to have such a low opinion of himself. Why would he think Peter wouldn’t want more from him than the occasional screw?

A few minutes later, Peter had pulled into the steakhouse’s parking lot. Actually it was more a wide patch of gravel than a lot. He turned off the engine and got out, locking up as soon as Xander closed his door. They headed inside and Peter was aware of Xander taking in everything around him.

The place had a rustic look to it, all old fashioned wood and gold accents. The lighting was low, giving it a cozy warm feel. The flat screens above the bar were playing music video and the place was filled with lively chatter. It wasn’t packed like it tended to get on the weekends, but it was still pretty busy.

A large bald man in a checked shirt gave him a nod and smiled from behind the bar. “Hey, Peter. Take a seat. Sheryl will be right with you.”

“Thanks, Kyle.” Peter gave him a smile before headed for a booth at the end and around the corner. Somewhere they could talk without Xander worrying.

“You know him?” Xander asked quietly, following Peter toward their table. Peter slid into the booth and Xander sat across from him.

“Kyle used to help my dad out on the farm when he was younger. Before he opened this place up. Really nice guy.”

Xander shifted his knife and fork to one side. “Does he, uh, know about you. Being gay, I mean?”

“Yeah, he kind of figured it out when he caught me sucking face with Liam, his busboy, behind the restaurant one day after school.”

Xander sat back with a laugh. “Shit. I didn’t know you were so adventurous.” There was mischief in his sparkling brown eyes. Xander leaned forward, his knee brushing up against Peter’s. With a wicked grin, Peter slipped his leg between Xander’s. He hoped tonight was the start of a new adventure for him, one that included Xander.

Different Tracks - Part 23 (NSFW)

Different Tracks LG

Hello all! Here's my chapter for this week's Different Tracks round robin story.

Here are the links to the current chapters and more info on the Round Robin story.

This chapter is NSFW.

For the first time in Xander’s life, someone had actually taken the time to help him understand something. During most of his childhood and well into adolescence, he’d been afraid to ask for help or admit he didn’t understand something, because experience had taught him that reaching out resulted in him being made to feel stupid or worthless. On occasion he’d even been laughed at. He hated being laughed at.

When Xander knocked over the vase, he was sure Peter would get pissed off and yell at him, so he’d tried to leave before he could make a bigger mess of things. Instead, Peter had gone out of his way to help him get it. Jesus, the guy hammered a hole in his wall. After the initial shock wore off and Xander stared at the hole like his life depended on it, it suddenly hit him.

Xander’s smile couldn’t get any wider. He grabbed Peter, chuckling at his surprised yelp, and pushed him up against the wall, pinning him there with his body. Their lips came together with heated frenzy. They tore at each other’s clothes and Xander was pretty sure he’d heard something rip, but he didn’t care. It was fine. If Peter didn’t care, neither did he.

Their breaths grew ragged and their movements desperate as they finished stripping each other. Peter put a hand to Xander’s chest. “Hold up.”

Shit. “What’s wrong?” Xander swallowed hard and watched Peter swipe up his jacket. He rummaged through the pockets until he found whatever he’d been looking for. With a wicked grin, he handed Xander a packet of lube and a condom. Holy shit. Peter was carrying lube around? He arched an eyebrow at Peter who gave him a shrug, his smile still on his face.

“Positive thinking.”

With a low growl, Xander took the packet from him, his gaze meeting Peter’s. “Well, you’re positively about to get fucked.” The flush that spread over Peter’s skin from his face to his shoulders was adorable, and it had Xander crowding Peter against the wall again. He was painfully hard and when Peter got down onto his knees in front of him, Xander almost lost his load right there.

Teeth gritted, Xander flattened his palms against the wall—taking care not to crush the lube packet—and closed his eyes, a moan escaping him as he felt Peter’s hot mouth on his dick. Peter’s fingers dug into Xander’s ass cheeks as he sucked, licked, and made a meal out of Xander. He didn’t know how much longer he’d be able to take this despite it feeling so damn good. His muscles tensed and he pulled himself away from Peter.

“Okay, you gotta stop that.” He helped Peter up and kissed him, sucking on Peter’s tongue and then his bottom lip before he pulled back. “I need to fuck you now.”

Peter nodded, his lustful gaze threatening to set Xander on fire. He handed Xander the condom and turned to brace his hands on the wall. He arched his back, his plump ass on offer.

“Fuck.” Xander didn’t waste any time ripping through the condom packet or slathering himself up with lube. He planted a kiss on Peter’s shoulder as he lined himself up. Slowly he pushed himself inside Peter, pausing now and then to let him adjust until Peter thrust back the rest of the way, drawing a gasp from Xander. “Fuck. Are you trying to kill me?”

Peter glanced over his shoulder at him. “Come on, tough guy. You promised me a fucking.”

“That I did.” And Xander had every intention of keeping his word. He pushed Peter up against the wall and kicked his legs wide enough for him to step between. He snapped his hips forward, loving the moans and whimpers Peter let out as Xander thrust into him. He drove himself in deep, the sound of skin against skin music to Xander’s ears, along with Peter’s grunts and pleas for more.

Xander loved this side of Peter. “You’re so fucking hot,” Xander murmured against Peter’s ear. He threaded his fingers through Peter’s hair and held on tight as Peter slipped a hand down to his cock. Damn, he was gorgeous. Peter’s kiss-swollen lips parted in ecstasy, his brow was beaded with sweat, and his skin was warm all over. As Xander lost all rhythm to his hips and pounded into Peter, he couldn’t help feeling hopeful.

“Oh God,” Peter warned. “I’m gonna come.”

Xander was right on Peter’s heels, his orgasm hitting him so hard his knees buckled. He thrust hard one last time as he emptied himself into the condom, his low groan matching Peter’s as he came. He wrapped his arms around Peter’s middle, his chest plastered against Peter’s back, and he pulled Peter with him as he turned and slid down the wall to the floor. He didn’t think about what he was doing, just held onto Peter, pulling him onto his lap. He closed his eyes, his breath still coming out ragged. He could get used to this. It scared the ever living shit out of him, but fuck, he could so get used to this. Not just the sex, but everything that came before and after.

Peter didn’t say a word. He curled himself up against Xander, a contended sigh escaping him. They stayed there on the floor in each other’s arms until their skin began to cool. Even then, Xander wasn’t ready to move. He wanted to hold onto Peter just a little bit longer. He reached out and grabbed his jacket to drape over them for the time being. He’d never done this before. Not just the fucking someone in their hallway, but just sitting here like this.

“Thanks,” Xander murmured.

“For what?”

Xander felt embarrassed admitting it, but he did it anyway. “For being so patient with me. For taking the time. Anyone else would’ve given up a long time ago.”

“Well I’m not just anyone,” Peter said, his hand coming to rest on Xander’s cheek.

“I’m starting to see that.”

“I can also be pretty stubborn.”

“I’m starting to see that too.”

Peter’s laugh had Xander smiling like an idiot. He loved that sound. He loved that he was the one who’d caused it. Peter went quiet and Xander noticed the bashful look that came onto his face.

“I was thinking that maybe I’d be that annoying morning person tomorrow and get up early to make coffee and breakfast.” He worried his bottom lip with his teeth for a moment before looking at Xander. “I thought maybe you could join me? I make some pretty good scrambled eggs. If you want. No pressure.”

Xander could see how much Peter wanted him to stay and the truth was, Xander wanted to stay just as much. He gently pushed Peter off him and they stood. As he took Peter’s hand, he happened to glance over his shoulder and spot the damaged wall. He moved his gaze back to Peter and smiled.

“Sure. Then maybe afterward we can fix that wall?”

Peter’s smile stole his breath away. “You got it.”

With a big dopey grin, Xander followed Peter to the bedroom. Unable to resist, he gave Peter’s ass a smack, making him jump. Peter gaped at him and Xander wriggled his brows. “Just because we’re heading for the bedroom doesn’t mean we have to sleep.”

Action. Humor. Romance.

THIRDS exists to uphold the law for Humans and Therians without prejudice.

During the Vietnam War, biological warfare spread the Melanoe virus, infecting millions worldwide and changing the course of human history forever. The vaccine, Eppione.8, created using strains from animals immune to the virus, activated a dormant mutation within the virus that altered human DNA and gave birth to a new species: Therians.

In an attempt to restore social order, the US government put new regulations and laws into place, along with a Therian branch of government. In 1990, Human and Therian legislators launched the Therian Human Intelligence, Recon, Defense Squadron aka the THIRDS, an elite, military-funded agency comprised of an equal number of Human and Therian agents.

But THIRDS agents are more than a team—they’re a family through thick and thin, and along the way, some find true love. While every day brings dangers and challenges, one thing will never change: standing up for what you believe in and protecting the people you love is never optional.
