Office Space - 9/23/16

Hello all! Welcome to this week's Office Space! If you missed the intro post to the new blog post series, you can read all about it here. Stationary-Satisfaction---C

This is the end of my desk and the shelving unit next to it. The spinning craft tray holds my newest Carpe Diem The Reset Girl and Posh planner accessories. There you see the trays of washi tape I use most often. There's Hershey kisses in that pineapple because sometimes you just need some chocolate. The paper tray has notebooks for whatever books I'm currenlt working on, along with some other bits and pieces. Then we have some pretty notebooks, and behind it file folders. It's being hidden by my mint tablet travel case. I'm always rearranging this section, so that washi tape will likely move somewhere else once I've organized my office closet.

Do you have a desk you work from? How do you keep it organized?

Hello, all! This week we have the top of one of my bookshelves. I love colorful walls, and the dark mint makes everything pop. I'm also a sucker for pretty candles and candle holders. So how are you all doing? Any plans for the weekend? Mine include writing, writing, and yummy food. I'm going to make some scones this weekend with some double Devon cream I was able to get my hands on, and some lovely strawberry preserves.  I'm not a natural baker, so wish me luck!

Where was everyone?

“Perhaps we can find a way to amuse ourselves until the others arrive.”

Donner’s cheeks burned, and his heart fluttered most awfully. He spun on his heels and found himself face-to-chest with Calder. Swallowing hard, he lifted his chin. It wasn’t right for an elf to be so tall, or so… broad and muscular. Calder smiled, and Donner’s heart fluttered again. How very annoying.

Calder moved his arm, and Donner took a quick step back. He was surprised when Calder held out his hand.

Donner blinked up at him. “What are you doing?”

Calder nodded toward the empty ballroom floor.

“I’m not dancing with you.” The very nerve. As if Donner would do such a thing. It would require him holding Calder’s hand and getting… close.

Calder shrugged. He put one hand to his chest and held the other out before he began to dance and sway. Plum pudding. The elf had gone mad. Calder smiled as he danced, his large stature not impeding his easy grace in the least. Donner would never have suspected the elf to possess such flair. It was difficult not to watch him, and even more so to appear indifferent. Not when Calder waltzed around him. The orchestra began to play a soft melody, and Donner cursed under his breath. Were they trying to be droll?

“Join me,” Calder said.

“No.” Donner folded his arms over his chest. Absolutely not. Dance with a Dockalfar? Absurd. He could just hear the gossip now.

Seemingly unperturbed by Donner’s refusal, Calder began to sing.

Oh for the love of holly. He sings too? Calder sang in a smooth baritone that did the strangest thing to Donner’s skin. He didn’t like it one bit. He especially didn’t like it when Calder sang about Donner’s eyes and the stars.

Calder danced closer, his voice low and dripping with honey. “Dance with me.”

“I’ll do no such thing.”

“Afraid I’ll sully your reputation?” He stopped behind Donner and murmured in his ear. “Or afraid you might like it?”

Office Space - 10/7/16

Hello all! Welcome to this week’s Office Space! If you missed the intro post to the new blog post series, you can read all about it here. ahoy-ccochet

A fellow author friend (you know who you are) got me hooked on Zulily. If you've never shopped on there, proceed with caution. It can be very addicting. It can be hit or miss with a few things, but the majority of the time it's spot on. They have fabulous stationary events, and as we all know, stationary is a weakness of mine. I'm pretty sure I have more journals and notebooks than I'll use in my lifetime yet I can't resist picking up a few more. They had a gorgeous set of Lady Jayne stationary that I couldn't resist grabbing a few pieces of. I love the retro sailor design. The highlighters are some of my fave because they're more pastel than the usual burn your eyes highlighter colors, and they're double ended. I bought a pack from Amazon, and topped them up while I was in San Francisco in a little fabulous store in Japantown that sold individual colors.

This weekend I'll be writing, in the hopes of making my deadline. I've also got edits for Thick & Thin. What are your plans for this weekend?

This is my Dreamspinner shelf in one of my bookcases. It houses my personal paperback copies of my books, along with my DSP journals of which there are actually three, a red and navy blue one behind the black one. I found my little Ash and Cael coin purses in Japantown during my trip to San Francisco for Yaoi Con. The orange retro sunglasses are in honor of Dex, and we've got mini Sloane complete with bandage that was a gift from a lovely reader. The pens are DSP pins and I love them. Not only do they write smoothly, but they have a stylus tip at the end. My Artifice books are currently housed there until I redo the other shelves they're meant to go on. This shelf gets shuffled around, but the DSP elements are always there, a little daily reminder that I had a dream and it came true.

With two and a half months left of 2016, do you have any new goals for 2017?

ABOUT THE BOOK

One moment, Riley Murrough is living a normal life working in a coffee shop, and the next, he’s running for his life from demons, learns he bears the mark of a shape-shifter king from a magical realm, and—worst of all—he’s destined to become the mated prince to the arrogant tiger-shifter he would rather strangle.

Khalon, the shifter king, is equally distraught at the idea of being bound to a human prince, and along with his Soldati warriors, he sets out to return Riley to his own world, where he belongs. On their journey, they might discover why the goddess brought them together—if they can escape the demons and make it to her alive.
