Join the LGBTQ Push Back Charity Giveaway!

LGBTQBannerFB

Hello all! I'm proud to be one of the many folks joining in the LGBTQ Push Back Charity Giveaway. What is this event? It's a way for us to give a little something back to the charities that give so much. I'm sure many of you have heard the story about the pizza parlor that received a million dollars in donations through GoFundMe for refusing to cater an LGBT wedding. Obviously, the pizza isn't what this is about, and although the refusal to serve LGBT people in the name of religious belief is truly upsetting to me, but I think what I find most upsetting is the fact these people received a million dollars in support. There is so much wrong happening in our world, in our country, hunger, death, despair, abuse, violence, suicides, that this to me is the worse kind of blow. These people are prepared to throw all this money at a pizza parlor in support of their beliefs when they could be supporting those who truly need help. How much food could that millions dollars have bought? How many beds? How many winter coats, shoes, blankets? I could go on and on, but instead, I want to spread the massage of love and joining in to support folks who actually care about helping others.

Authors, review bloggers, and publishers have come together to offer their support. Instead of spending $5 on a book in the next two weeks, give that $5 to an LGBT charity of your choice, tell Diverse Reader about it in their comments, and go into the draw to win a book from one of the participating donors. If you can’t make a donation then please take a moment to share a charity’s links and tell us about the charity instead.

Three fundraisers have been set up to counter the effects of Indiana’s SB 101. #Pizza4Equality is aiming to match the money raised by the pizza parlor, with all donations going to Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund. Another fundraiser is aiming to raise $100,000 for Indiana Youth Group. Planting Peace hopes to raise $100,000 to provide beds for homeless LGBT people.

I've made my donation to the True Colors Fund and am providing an eBook to Diverse Reader for the giveaway. Together we can prove that love conquers hate. Check out the amazing post at Diverse Reader here: http://diversereader.blogspot.com/2015/04/lgbtq-push-back-charity-giveaway.html

THIRDS Thursday eBook News!

THIRDS Thursdays

Hello all! I have some exciting news about the THIRDS Thursdays Flash Fiction stories. For several months now I’ve been asked if the stories will be released in eBook format. I’m super excited to announce they’ll be released through Dreamspinner Press, and there are currently two volumes in the production process! So what does that mean exactly?

I wanted readers all over the world to have access to the eBooks, so we discussed the best way to do this. If the eBooks were offered for free, they would only be available for download through the Dreamspinner Press website, which isn’t accessible to some folks, especially a good number of International readers. In order to make the eBooks available through a larger number of online retailers, just like the THIRDS series, the flash fiction eBooks would need to be placed on sale. So we decided on the low sale price point of 0.99 cents. Some folks may be wondering: Why would I pay for something I got to read for free? Good question.

Each volume will be roughly 40,000 words in length, and include a brand new, previously unpublished flash fiction story. The stories will be professionally edited, and have professional cover art. Plus, all the royalties I earn from these two volumes will be donated to Big Cat Rescue, a sanctuary for abused and abandoned big cats. So for your 99 cents, you get a long novella length eBook with added brand new content, you get the THIRDS Thursday stories on your e-Reader, but most importantly, you’ll be helping a wonderful cause.

So what does that mean for those stories on the blog and Goodreads?

Since the two volumes are under contract, these stories will need to be removed from the blog and Goodreads group, but ONLY the stories written up to and including December 10th, 2015. They’ll be removed at the end of February/early March while the eBooks are in edits. Any stories written after December 10th, 2015 will remain on the blog and Goodreads group, and THIRDS Thursdays will continue as normal with new stories. The plan is to release Volume 1 in June, and Volume 2 in October, between regular THIRDS series releases.

Obviously, you don’t have to purchase the eBooks, but if you do, know the royalties are going to help a wonderful charity. Thanks to this series, I’ve learned so much more about big cats. I had the pleasure of visiting Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida, and the stories I heard about some of these cats were heartbreaking, so it warms my heart knowing we can do a little something to help. <3

The Five Senses Blog Tour - Therian senses and a giveaway!

autism

Hello all! Thank you so much for joining me here today. I'm honored to be a part of R.J. Scott's annual month long blog hop highlighting Autism Awareness Day (April 2nd). This year's theme is the five senses, and we have folks throughout the hop offering personal experiences, stories, snippets from books, and more covering the different senses. For my post, I'll be chatting about the senses in the THIRDS world, but not the senses as we know them.

In the THIRDS world, the mutation that gives Therians the ability to shift into animals, also gives them heightened senses. Their eyesight is sharper than a Human's even when they're in Human form. They have no trouble seeing in the dark, and in fact it's the tapedum lucidum that gives them away as Therians. When you shine a light on their eyes, it's as if their eyes are glowing, just like what you'd see reflected in animals. Therians also have a heightened sense of smell, and can hear at greater distances than Humans. Their instincts are also sharper. They're stronger, faster, more agile, and heal quicker than Humans. Their strongest senses are also determined by the type of animal they shift into. So wolf Therians even in Human form have a greater sense of smell than big cat Therians, while the big cat Therians will have sharper eyesight.

Although most Therians are accustomed to these enhanced traits, Human society is still growing accustomed to them. After all, Therians have only been around some forty-odd years. It's easy for a Human to forget that a Therian can hear their whispers at a distance where a Human wouldn't. The way Therians move are also connected to their animal halves which explains why big cat Therians tend to move as if they're stalking, making very little to no noise at all when entering a room. In the THIRDS series, the majority of Destructive Delta and its fellow agents are big cat Therians. We get to see how they use their heightened senses, whether they're chasing down a perpetrator, or pouncing on their boyfriend.

Then we have Ethan Hobbs. Ethan is a tiger Therian. He weighs nearly 300 pounds and is almost 7 feet tall. He has selective mutism and suffers from sever social anxiety. He's also the Public Safety Bomb Technician and demolitions expert for Destructive Delta. As you can imagine, his senses play a big part in his job, but they also make things harder for him when he'd having a rough day. As a Therian, Ethan already has heightened senses, so when he's hit by an anxiety attack, his senses leave him debilitated and in physical pain. Luckily, Ethan has the support and understanding of his boyfriend, their family, and their friends. Whatever Ethan needs, there are people who love him there to help.

Check out the master post here.

GIVEAWAY (Ends April 30th at midnight Eastern US time)

Heart2Heart: A Charity Anthology out now!

Hello, all! I'm super excited to announce the release of Heart2Heart, a charity anthology benefiting LGBTQ charities: The Trevor Project, Bisexual Resource Center, and one-n-ten. I'm honored to be a part of this amazing group of authors. A huge thank you to everyone who worked hard to put this anthology together.

Heart2Heart Anthology

Once upon a time, a bunch of authors wondered… What if a dating app that guaranteed you a love match broke down just in time for Valentine’s Day? What if you found yourself on a blind date with a random guy who might be your opposite in every single way? It could be a disaster. Or… When the code breaks down, fate just might take over.

Eleven of your favorite authors of gay romance have joined forces to light up your Valentine’s Day with a collection of sweet, sexy, silly, and hot short stories, featuring a wacky cast of characters chosen from your reader suggestions! Morticians and magicians, superheroes and spies, lawyers and lobstermen, will all learn that love has nothing to do with algorithms… and sometimes you find it in the least-likely places.

And the best part? All proceeds from this collection will go to the authors’ favorite LGBTQ charities, to ensure that love in all its incarnations will be celebrated and protected every single day of the year!

** Please note that it might take Amazon a little longer to make the book available in some territories. Thank you!
