Recent Reads - A Change of Heart by Mary Calmes

RecentReads

Hello all! Welcome to another Recent Reads. This week I started the Change of Heart series by Mary Calmes. Truth be told, I can count on one hand the number of shifter books I've read, which I know may sound strange considering how many shifter stories I currently have published. Now that I'm catching up on my reading, I'm very much looking forward to reading the various takes on shifters in gay romance, so of course I started with one of my faves, Mary Calmes. From the very first chapter I was sucked into this world. I adore how creative it is, and am absolutely fascinated by the connection to ancient Egyptian culture and mythology.

The world building behind the werepanthers is wonderful, and so solidly put together. I love when there's just the right balance between the paranormal world and the real world, adding a fantastic layer of believability, even  where paranormal is concerned. There's a certain level of possessiveness and need which fits perfectly with this world. Logan is a mystery at first, this large, imposing sensual man determined to have what is rightfully his. I love the way Jin flusters him, drives him crazy.

Jin's fearful of this new life he's suddenly thrust into, and understandably so. I love his strength, how he always tries to see the good in people even if they've wronged him. I also love his friendship with Cane. I love Cane. That one person who knows Jin so well and can tell him off like no one can. I was enthralled by Jon and Logan's relationship, watching it grow from what they were to who they would be together as semel and reah. The secondary characters are wonderful and the more I read, the more I want to know about this world and the werepanther culture.

There is never a dull moment, with plenty of action, drama, thrills, and sexy-times, resulting in book hangovers over several mornings. Upon finishing I've quickly moved onto the second book Trusted Bond which was just as fabulous, and now I'm on Honored Vow but more on the rest of the series another day. Absolutely love it!

<3 Happy Reading! rosedivider

Change of Heart by Mary CalmesChange of Heart: Book One

As a young gay man—and a werepanther—all Jin Rayne yearns for is a normal life. Having fled his past, he wants nothing more than to start over, but Jin’s old life doesn’t want to let him go. When his travels bring him to a new city, he crosses paths with the leader of the local were-tribe. Logan Church is a shock and an enigma, and Jin fears that Logan is both the mate he fears and the love of his life. Jin doesn't want to go back to the old ways, and mating would irrevocably tie him to them.

But Jin is the mate Logan needs at his side to help him lead his tribe, and he won't give Jin up so easily. It will take time and trust for Jin to discover the joy in belonging to Logan and how to love without restraint.

Dreamspun Desires - Love Always Finds A Way!

DreamspunDesires_FBbanner1

Hello all! I am so incredibly excited about the new Dreamspun Desires line, and today the subscription service has launched! I'm devouring it like a triple chocolate sundae with the works and a cherry on top. I grew up on category romances. Romance is my bag, baby. In high school I had more than one romance paperback subscription. There was nothing more exciting than receiving my shiny new books every month. What would it be this time around? Was he a secret millionaire or a duke? Was she a Countess? Was he the long lost lover thought to be dead *gasp*!!

I love a fabulously written trope. Love the promise of a happily ever after, and am thrilled by the road to romance.  Category romances are just so much fun, but oh, to have category romances with two heartwarming heroes!! *swoon* As you can probably guess, I'm a big fan of these stories. It also might not surprise you that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to write a story for this line. In fact I had a particular story in my head a few years now, so in April, my own Dreamspun Desires story Forgive and Forget will be released. I'll be posting all about it soon enough, but in the meantime, do check out what this amazing line is all about. And the covers? I love it!! I'm also giddy that the paperbacks are going to be produced to match the smaller mass market paperbacks. I can't wait to see them all lined up on my shelf.

Welcome to the MM Veterans Day Scavenger Hunt

Today I am hosting Book Lovers 4Ever

Hello all! Welcome to my stop of the M/M Scavenger Hunt! I'm super excited to welcome the lovely folks from Book Lovers 4Ever who've been so kind as to answer a few of my questions!

What do you love most about having a book blog?

Wendy- Connecting with the authors and reading all the great books. Reading a great book and spreading the word. Sharing my opinion, I like giving my opinion LOL

LT- Being able to share my views and opinions of the books I love and some I don’t like so much.

Shonna- Connecting with other readers, bloggers and authors that share a passion for reading and sharing it.

What do you find the most challenging when reviewing a book?

Wendy- Telling everyone what I thought about the book without giving away the entire story- LOL. My main problem, the more I liked the book the harder I have writing a review. I want to shout from the rooftops how awesome the book was but then I tend to gush and give too much away. (We’ve been blogging for 6 years and even after all this time the three of us have different ways we write reviews, I think it is what works for us)

LT- If I don’t like the book, I find it hard to finish and give my review without being cruel.

Shonna- Everything!! LOL I try to talk about the book without giving away too much. I want to express what stands out about the author’s writing and share what excites me about the story.

Do you have a favorite trope? If you do, what is it?

Wendy- I love two alpha males, I love my males to be the same body type and to be open to “switching or flipping” (if you read M/M then you know what I’m talking about). Also friends to lovers and GFY.

LT- I like strong Alpha males saving strong females, ones that help each other. No healing too much.

Shonna- No, not really but I when I’m “NOT A HAPPY CAMPER” everyone is going to know about it,..LOL.

If you could hang out with three of your favorite characters for one day, who would they be?

Wendy- ugh this one is hard for me, so many to pick from. (1) Dex and Sloan from Charlie’s THIRDS series (No, that does not count as two- they are ONE couple…that counts as one to me) 2. Tate and Logan from Ella Frank’s Temptation series *seriously they count as one too). (3) Chris and Owen from Safety in Numbers by Jessie G. (don’t judge me you try picking just three from all these wonderfully sexy couples)

LT- Phury from J.R. Ward’s book Lover Enshrined, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Acheron (Ash) from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series and Hunter from L.A. Banks Crimson Moon series.

Shonna- 1. Bel, from the Novels of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson.  2. Christian Notte, from The Argeneau Series by Lynsay Sands.  3. Bones, form Jeaniene Frost’s series, Night Huntress

What book are you most excited to read next?

Wendy- Catch a Tiger by the Tail and I’m not saying that just because Charlie is interviewing us- LOL. Calvin and Hobbs are by second favorites from the THIRDS series. I just love Hobbs!!

LT- Blood Kiss by J.R. Ward the first book in the Black Dagger Legacy series.

Shonna- HARD EVER AFTER by Laura Kaye. I am a huge fan of this series. She is so talented and I LOVE all of the HARD INK Series.

Rapid Fire Q&A

Wendy: Chocolate/Vanilla- definitely Chocolate Coke/Pepsi-- Coke Morning/Night- I've always been a Night person Coffee/Tea-- Both! Summer/Winter--Winter- the colder the better
