Weekly News Roundup: Jun 23rd to Jun 29th *Updated*

weekly news roundupWelcome to this week's News Roundup covering June 23rd to June 29th. It's been a fantastic and very busy week with The Auspicious Troubles of Chance released the 20th of June.
As with all my other releases, I have been doing my best to keep my nervousness from taking over. This is my longest work to date, pretty much a novel--which I will write at some point! But it's also been incredibly exciting, and I'm so so thrilled when I hear about folks enjoying it. So for everyone who's left me a comment, a tweet, a like, a review: Thank You! It really means a lot to me that you all take the time to say so. This week I've had not just one, but two beautifully written reviews, both giving The Auspicious Troubles of Chance 4.75 out 5 stars. If you have a moment to drop by those sites, please do, not just because of the review, but just the lovely way these reviews were written.
♥ The first is from Joyfully Jay. "Oh, this was such a good story — romantic, heartwarming, with a lovely epic feel. And once again Cochet gives us a historical that feels so rooted in the time period and allows the reader to really experience the world our characters inhabit." Read the rest of the review here. ♥ The second is from Camiele White over at YAM Magazine"Charlie Cochet’s debut effort is bold, intelligent. It’s of the caliber that bodes well for a brilliant career. From the moment the story begins, you get a precise sense of the distinctive voice of our character, and by extension the breadth of voice of the writer. Cochet’s use of language and diction makes the simple image of touch grand, audacious. Chance and Jacky’s relationship is so palpable, even the very breath between their bodies expands and reaches out to embrace the reader in its indigo hue." Read the rest of the review here. ♥ On Thursday, I posted the first of my Behind the Scenes series, giving inside info, photos, and just fun little facts about what went into one of my books. June 28th showed The Amethyst Cat Caper and you can find it here and in my blog archive on the sidebar. ♥ All Romance eBooks is having a Hottest Heroes contest, so if you fancy nominating Hawk or Remi (they're my only heroes eligible for the contest), I would be delighted. You can click the button on the sidebar, Contest ends July 4th. You can read all about it here. ♥ You may have noticed other authors asking folks to 'like' their Amazon page. Apparently once the author hits 50 'likes' it's supposed to help them out in some way. I'm not really sure, but I'm happy to do what I can. So if you all have an Amazon account and would like to help me reach that 50, I'd love for you to 'like' my page. ^__^ Maybe it'll help Chance move up from his #150,000 rank. lol. Who knows?  Last time I checked I was at 27 likes. Personally, all this social media is still new to me and I forget there's all these 'likes', google+, retweet thingies, but I'm very much into spreading the love, so I promise to get better at it. *Update*   The Auspicious Troubles of Chance is today's (June 30th) 'free' book over at Reviews by Jessewave. Drop by and leave a comment for a chance to win a free copy! Coming up next week: ♥ Visit Joyfully Jay on Thursday July 5th and leave a comment for a chance to win an eBook copy of The Auspicious Troubles of Chance.

Manga and Romance Blog Hop

Welcome to the Manga and Romance Blog Hop, celebrating all things Yaoi and MM Romance! The hop will run from today, June 22nd to Sunday June 24th.

For those of you who may not know me, my name is Charlie and I'm an author of MM Historical Romance set mainly in the 1920s and 1930s.

My heroes range from whiskey guzzling, grumpy Private Investigators to refined English Tea House proprietors. From the Jazzy 20s to the Big Band 30s, my fellas get themselves into all sorts of trouble, but I guarantee there will always be a handsome fella at his side--though he might just be the source of that trouble.

There's also plenty of romance, humor, and even some naughtiness. From Prohibition agents chasing down bootleggers, to Legionnaires trekking across dusty deserts, I love writing in these eras long gone. I love the music, the fashion, the movies, everything! You might be asking, what does MM Romance have to do with yaoi? Sure, they are two very distinct art forms with their own sets of rules, but there IS one key element they both share: boys in love.

I know when it comes to my characters, no matter how some of them might fight it, they all give in to love. They might go kicking and screaming, they might just dreamily throw themselves into it without so much as dipping a toe to test the waters, but in the end, they get their happily ever after, and  that's a big part of why I write MM Romance--to see these fellas fall in love.

Now although my writing didn't stem from yaoi, I've always enjoyed reading yaoi manga and watching the animes, with my ultimate favorite always being Junjou Romantica. It's sweet, funny, and I love the artwork--not to mention Misaki is ADORABLE. It's no surprise that my second favorite is by the same folks,  Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi. I've read so much yaoi manga, I've kind of lost count! What are some of your favorites?

Onto the hop!

The Auspicious Troubles of Chance Release Day & More

Hello all! Today's a busy day with not only a release going on, but an author spotlight. First things first, I'm so excited because The Auspicious Troubles of Chance is out today from Dreamspinner Press!

It's been a long while since I've been this nervous, watching as Chance and the fellas are unleashed upon the world. This is my longest novella to date and my first Dreamspinner title. I hope you all will enjoy it.  Here's the blurb, and you can find it on the Dreamspinner website here.

          Description:

Chance Irving is a young man with a gift for getting into trouble—not surprising, as trouble is all he’s ever known. After losing everything he held dear one fateful night, he decides to leave New York and his past behind, and joins the French Foreign Legion. But even in Algiers, Chance can’t seem to shake his old ways, and he ends up being transferred to a unit made up of misfits and rabble-rousers like him—a unit he finds just in time to be captured and thrown into a cell with his new commandant, Jacky Valentine.

A highly respected commandant with a soft spot for hard luck cases, Jacky is the kind of guy who would go to war for you, and the three equally troubled youths from his unit he’s more or less adopted feel the same way about him. Suddenly Chance starts to think that his life doesn’t have to be as desolate and barren as the wastelands around him.

But even after their escape, with the promise of a future with Jacky to buoy his spirits, or maybe because of it, Chance can’t stop making mistakes. He disobeys orders, lashes out at the boys in Jacky’s care, and blazes a trail of self-destruction across the desert—until someone makes him realize he’s hurting more than just himself.

A Timeless Dreams title: While reaction to same-sex relationships throughout time and across cultures has not always been positive, these stories celebrate M/M love in a manner that may address, minimize, or ignore historical stigma.

Today I'm a spotlight author over at Top 2 Bottom Reviews where they have a fantastic in-depth interview with me on everything from my writing, to research, to characters, and more! Go here for the interview. You can also read the great review for The Amethyst Cat Caper here. Five kisses from Top 2 Bottom Reviews!
